Abstract :
In this paper, we provide a simulation based method to estimate the symmetric information rate (SIR) of continuous phase modulation (CPM) signal over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. We then estimate the theoretical limits on the bandwidth efficiency of CPM signals, given a specific codeword length and probability of codeword error. Finally, we provide some CPM signal designs which have relatively high bandwidth efficiency and low complexity.
