Abstract :
Limited by the restriction of bandwidth, it is difficult to meet the high quality and low-time-delay requirements simultaneously for the practical wireless video surveillance systems. In this paper, a dual-stream coding and transporting scheme is proposed to provide one possible solution. In the proposed system, two streams for one surveillance video are generated: one is low-bitrate coded and transported timely, which is named as real-time stream and used for real-time monitoring; the other one is high-quality coded and buffered for non-real-time transmission. In addition, we design a novel temporal bandwidth allocation method for the transporting of the two streams, in which the bandwidth is assigned adaptively to the abnormal events (AEs) detection result to achieve the efficient using of the temporal bandwidth resource. The result of experiment shows that the dual-stream coding and transporting method can outperform the single stream coding and transporting surveillance system.
