Abstract :
Many researches have been conducted on Map Matching (MM) and integrated vehicle navigation techniques during the past decades; and some researches have been taken on map quality and its effect on MM and positioning performance. However few comprehensive researches are done to analysis the influence of map quality, map model on MM positioning performance, and MM algorithms feasibility. This paper tries to do something in this field. Firstly, kinds of error in vector maps are presented. Then, the widely used vector map model based on single-line-road-network is specially emphasized, and its influence on MM performance from map model is discussed in detail. Then, MM algorithms´ sensibilities and feasibilities are stated, and sensibilities and feasibilities of MLE and Kalman Filter in MM and their requirements to digital maps are specially emphasized. Through these researches, the author would like to give some advice for the design and development of digital maps for VNS and MM algorithms.
