Abstract :
Multicarrier Sinusoidal Pulse-Width Modulation (SPWM) techniques have been used to control the multilevel Neutral-Point-Clamped (NPC) inverter topology. These techniques are the natural extension of the conventional two-level SPWM method. In this paper some more modulation signals are used along with some selected multicarrier signals. Different combinations of modulation signals and carrier disposition are compared on the basis of THD, dc bus utilization and common mode voltages. Detail analysis of the different carrier PWM techniques used for the multi-level inverter performance is given. Experimental results with different modulation and carrier signals are presented and discussed for this arrangement presented to verify the simulation results.
