Abstract :
In the modern technological era there is a need of virtual instrumentation in testing and experimentation of electrical machines and drives in colleges, universities and other academic institution to increase accuracy, efficiency and analytical part in the experiment. This paper proposes a virtual instrumentation technique for online testing and performance analysis of 3 phase induction motor which replaces conventional method of doing experiments and use of old measuring equipment like ammeter, voltmeter, tachometer, power analyzer. A new method called impedance method is also presented in this paper to measure speed without using speed sensor and tachometer which reduces the no. of sensor used in the analysis. With the help of a data acquisition board, a small sensor circuit and a computer, this technology makes the whole analysis faster, more comprehendible, lucid, and user friendly. All the estimation algorithms are implemented in LabView G programming environment. In addition, the virtual instrumented technique presented here is also validated by a verification method which is done using traditional instrumentation model.
