Abstract
Pressure field measurements in water for a 1-in-diameter circular transducer driven at 1 MHz are reported. The measurements were taken along the axis and also at right angles to it for average face pressure varying from 10 to 200 kPa. Numerical calculations were carried out using the Kuznetsov-Zabolotskaya-Khokhlov equation, which is a parabolic nonlinear wave equation that accounts for the combined effects of diffraction, attenuation, and nonlinearity. The computed and measured fields through the fifth harmonic are in good agreement for the range of pressures investigated
