Abstract :
In the Large-scale wind power system stability studies, the power grid will be affected by a short circuit. To study and analyze this phenomenon, a complete simulation is performed before connecting the wind farm to the electrical grid. The performance of shunt Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System Devices connected to wind farm based Doubly-Fed Induction Generator under short circuit fault has been analyzed. These systems are Static VAR Compensator (SVC) and Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). The system is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results show that STATCOM has better performance than SVC.
