Abstract :
Summary from only given, as follows. This paper discusses the finite element approach to Electrical and Magnetic field distribution problems in electromagnetic devices as can be handled by the general purpose program EMAC. As a member of the NISA family of programs, the input to this program could be generated using the pre-processor DISPLAY III. The direct interface with this 3-D interactive color graphics program with extensive modeling capabilities for finite element model generation and model definition makes the pre-processing part extremely simple. The solver EMAG uses the wavefront solution technique and has an inbuilt system of wavefront optimizer. Both linear and nonlinear problems in Electrostatics, Steady Current Flow, Magnetostatics, Magnetodynamics and Transient Magnetic Field Analysis are possible. The element library consists of planar elements, solids, Axisymmetric solids and 3-D thick shell elements. The program handles orthotropic properties and user defined B-H curves. The results of the analysis can be post-processed using DISPPOST. As with DISPLAY Ill. DISPPOST is also a 3-D interactive color graphics program with contouring and graphing capabilities. Further, the solver also generates files containing elemental Joule heating information in the case Steady Current Flow problems for further analysis in Heat Transfer and subsequently Stress Distribution and Dynamic Characteristics of the model.
