Along with the high-speed development of economy and society, emergency environmental pollution accident occurs frequently, resulting in tremendous losses. In order to reduce the hazard of emergency environmental accident, the government has introduced environmental pollution accident response and established early warning system. However, due to the lack of a complete and efficient screening and classification method for the environmental risk sources, it is difficult to confirm the sources of potential accidents, and cannot implement risk control to avoid sudden environmental pollution accidents in advance. This research established the method for screening environmental risk sources, presented an approach to classify the risk level of the environmental risk sources based on risk material dose — effect of the accident by using the dual-index risk assessment mode of risk material and key risk control factors of risk unit. The identification method of the environmental risk sources was simplified and the practicability and maneuverability was improved.
