Abstract :
An instrument for measurement of ultrasonic displacement has been developed by modifying a scanning-tunneling-microscope probe. It can be used for measurement of high-frequency surface displacement in applications requiring better lateral resolution than optical probes can provide. The application of the instrument to the characterization of surface acoustic waves is described
