In recent years, Fuzzy Set Theory (FST) has been applied to many fields such as control, signal and image processing, medicine, and the economy, etc. The research results have shown that the FST yields many efficient solutions to various problems. In regional analysis, the core competency has applied in many areas. The urban core competitiveness is one of complex systems for the urban studies and region science. In the study of the urban system, how to identify the factors consisting of the urban competitiveness is one of the problems in previous researches. In this paper, the authors proposed a model that uses the fuzz relationship matrix to identify the important factors influencing in the system, that is the urban core competitiveness factors. The results indicate that it is an effective way to study the urban competitiveness.
