  • Abstract
The transmission characteristics of phase-shifted long-period fiber gratings are examined numerically using a combination of coupled-mode theory and transfer matrix method. It is shown that the transmission characteristics of such a grating can be controlled by the phase shift value and its location in the grating. Responses at different points along the grating are also studied.
