Abstract :
An ambient-temperature salient-pole iron rotor excited by a single superconducting winding is retrofittable into a conventional stator. The concept is illustrated by application to a prototype design of a 1.5 MVA superconducting generator. The fault test response transient is obtained by a frequency response method based on finite element magnetic diffusion solutions
