Abstract :
Scientific instruments well designed for specific applications are of paramount importance in respect of any critical measurement and more so to the controversial topic of "radiation hazard monitoring". A number of radiation monitoring situations are identified in this paper, starting from a general survey to home appliances like microwave oven leakages. Therefore, the need to measure specific radiation parameters necessarily requires the right choice of instruments for accurate results. Measurement parameters, measuring systems and their relevances are touched upon in this paper. Also, the general measurement requirements of nonionized radiation and its effects are briefly mentioned.
