  • Abstract
An important requirement in the new electric utility environment is an adequate transmission system that meets customer demands and allows the competitive power market to function. It is therefore important to determine and address possible transmission deficiencies. These deficiencies are traditionally identified by conducting power flows, short circuit analyses, voltage collapse studies and stability analyses. This paper illustrates how possible deficiencies can be identified using quantitative composite generation and transmission system reliability evaluation. The procedure described in this paper consists of three segments: base case analysis, factor analysis and remedial modifications and their effects, and is illustrated using a published test system.
