Abstract :
Quality control and inspection become more crucial when levels of customization increase. There is a need to implement modular inspection equipment in accordance with reconfiguration requirements. Commercial electrical hardware and software from National Instruments were integrated with mechanical modules to provide a configurable vision system. Inspection was performed on two product families to demonstrate the operation of post-process and assembly inspections. Results indicated that the designed and tested system was suitable to feature detection and colour analyses. The equipment was found to be unsuitable for inspections that required high measurement accuracies.
