Abstract :
The paper outlines a wind turbine coupled to a permanent magnets synchronous generator (PMSG). The PMSG is not located in the horizontal axis of the turbine, but in the blades´ tip instead. The basic magnetic topology is constituted by sixty magnets mounted on the surface of the rotor and a conventional stator winding. This wind generator is coupled to a shroud that can increase power output and is a safety factor to protect installations, equipment and people. So the system is compounded by a horizontal axis wind turbine, a PMSG and a shroud. These three main parts were designed to be operated in urban areas. Therefore, the priority is efficiency and safety.
