Abstract
Summary from only given, as follows. This paper presents a quasi-3D finite element technique for solving the transient eddy current problem in an electromagnetic actuator. This model combines 2D vector potential and scarlar potential solutions, so that only one component is required instead of three. The approach is examined in an actuator. The accuracy achieved using the quasi-3D transient FEM method is comparable to that using a full 3 dimensional FEM method in static state of an electromagnetic actuator.
