  • Abstract
    Ultrafiltration membrane (UF) was employed in water treatment for raw water of Yangtze River and water supply. The results showed that the UF filtration system is not suitable to treat raw water in Zhenjiang segment of Yangtze River without any pre-treatment. Whether the quality of raw water is good and not, it is very important to select suitable backwash period during filtration of membrane system to reduce the pollution of membrane. In this study, the relationship of resistance of membrane with filtration time, reversible and irreversible resistance by pure water backwash and intrinsic resistance of membrane could be calculated respectively by controlling the operation condition. The irreversible resistance increases with the filtration time, which made membrane become contaminated easily and caused membrane difficult to be recovered. And it will be used as a reference to direct the practical application of UF technology in Water Purification Plant.
