In order to improve motivation mechanism of college teacher, a reasonable motivation pattern based on diversified needs of different college teacher was put forward to bring teacher´s initiative into full play. The model based on motivation theory and marginal analysis was built to analyze the relation between material incentive and non-material incentive and their effect on motivation efficiency. Results show that material incentive and nonmaterial incentive must be used in proper proportions to satisfy the needs of different kinds of teachers. The universities can improve their motivation system with the results.
