Abstract :
A voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using a frequency synthesizer requires low noise and wide variable frequency range. Surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators using slanted interdigital transducers (slanted interdigital SAW resonators) for obtaining the requisite wide variable frequency range with improved electrode structure are proposed. Theoretical and experimental results for the impedance characteristics of the slanted interdigital SAW resonators are described. A wider variable frequency range than that of a VCO using conventional SAW resonators is obtained
