The evaluation of regional economic benefit around Bohai

Bohai Economic Zone is one of three major economic circles in China; it will reach 30% of the proportion of the country´s total GDP until 2010, and plays an important role in China´s economic development. But in recent years, its development shows a certain degree of fluctuate and non-equilibrium. So we apply the panel data DEA method to evaluate the economic benefits of the zone around Bohai in this paper, and measure the regional economic benefits form 1986 to 2008 in these regions. By the analysis, we find that the overall level of the Bohai region has a higher economic efficiency, however, there is some decline since 2002 and the non-equilibrium development of regions is still very prominent.
