Abstract :
Organizations are utilizing new technologies to mobilize their workforce in the quest to be flexible and responsive, expand globally, and achieve competitive advantages. While much research effort on nomadic computing focuses on technical issues, organizational issues, such as the enabling role of organizational culture, are often overlooked. This study examines a framework that links organizational culture to organizational support for employees\´ nomadic behaviors and job satisfaction. Based on Schein\´s conceptualization of culture, we coined the term "nomadic culture" to describe the underlying assumptions, espoused values, and artifacts that support today\´s workforce\´s ability to work anytime anywhere enabled by nomadic computing technologies.
