Abstract
Differential Evolution technique is presented in this paper to solve Multi Area Economic Dispatch (MAED) problem. For a given area power demand, generator limits of all generators are evaluated by incorporating tie line power transfer limits. Central Economic Dispatch (CED) is performed with modified power demands using Differential Evolution algorithm. To test the applicability of the proposed method, two- area system and four-area systems are considered. Results of the proposed method show that it provides optimal solution in terms of generation cost.
