Abstract
As the mobile telephony users exceeds 1 billions, it is apparent that the next challenges for the wireless telephony is data communication services. It involves a wide spectrum of challenges from software engineering, service evolutions, user acceptance management and business model engineering. There are conflicting demands for the integrated software platform for mobile handsets. The author summarizes unique challenges in the mobile data service evolution with a time-consuming spiral evolution pattern, the author discusses the business model engineering for the mobile software platform in the data intensive mobile age using the technology-business combined perspective from lessons learned in the recent mobile Internet evolution. The author provides business model patterns in the mobile software platform engineering and discusses their competence in the two different evolution scenarios.
