  • Abstract
This paper presents an ongoing development of a method for releasing pattern of traffic lights, where the primary aim is to reduce traffic congestion in Bangkok, Thailand. The method applies theoretical principles of Fuzzy Logic, where the highlight is on the prominent technicality of decision making under ambiguous logic, similar to the human mind. This Fuzzy Logic-based method will be used to develop a system to release the traffic lights in a microscopic traffic simulator. Furthermore, this paper also reports the application of fundamental theory, traffic engineering and highway engineering in setting up a simulation. Based on the contents reported in this paper, appropriated traffic light control will be further developed to help reduce traffic congestion at Bangkok intersections.
