Abstract
A fault tolerant control method is proposed for two sequentially connected continuous subsystems. This mimics the simplest case for sequentially arranged multi-agent systems that are seen in many process industries. The first subsystem is an ordinary linear system and the second is a stochastic distribution system. The proposed fault tolerant control aims at obtaining a control strategy that can use the healthy system to compensate the faulty one. When the first system is subject to faults, the stochastic system is used to accommodate faults and compensate the influences onto the total system, leading to a fault tolerant control of the whole system. Theoretical analysis and computer simulations have illustrated the validity of this method.
