Abstract :
Wideband direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) has attractive features for use in wireless local loop (WLL) such as the ability to support high bit rate services, provide flexible allocation of radio resource and provide good trunking efficiency. However, the combination of higher bit rates and lower bit error rates relative to mobile cellular systems means that conventional DS-CDMA approaches do not yield viable capacities without the use of complex and expensive channel coding schemes. A wideband DS-CDMA system is described employing synchronisation and time-control of the reverse link in order to suppress the multiple-access interference experienced and increase the capacity with respect to conventional DS-CDMA systems
