  • Abstract
Infrared Thermography (I.R.) is a powerful tool for efficient preventive electrical maintenance work. We use this technology for electrical equipment scanning in order to prevent unscheduled downtime of equipment and potential fires, stemming from poor electrical connections. Equipment which can benefit from IR scans include: Clean Room Machines, power panels, bus bars, transformers, disconnects, etc. These are all periodically checked during semiannual or annual Preventive Maintenance (P. M.) routines. In the last years we realized savings in the millions of dollars, as a result of I.R. survey findings. Besides the important fact of saving money and equipment downtime by locating problems before they happen, an active Infrared Thermography program makes our industrial environment a safer and more productive place to work
