Abstract
A short review of future cellular mobile services and emerging technologies, and their basic principles, is provided. Economic and technological implications, of providing these services to developing countries are examined. The current status of cellular systems in developing countries and future trends are described. Microcellular technology is introduced, and its application to fixed-point services is described. The feasibility of applying microcellular technology to telecommunication expansion in developing countries is explored
