Abstract
Acoustic scalar and vector tomography appears as a promising technique for monitoring the distribution of temperature and water mass velocity in lakes basins. This paper, after a brief description of the forward acoustic propagation problem, presents the algorithm implemented for the tomographic inversion and shows the results of a first feasibility study, supported by 2D simulations, aimed to defining the monitoring architecture and the basic requirements of the time of flight measuring system.
