  • Abstract
The results of imaging skin lesions using a clinical optical instrument developed for this purpose, called the Nevoscope, along with color and texture analyses of the digitized images of the lesion are presented. A description of the Nevoscope, a hand-held device that uses fiber optics to direct and focus an annular light source to the surrounding skin area of a lesion, is given. The instrument provides multiple views of the transilluminated lesion from several angles. The knowledge-based image analysis and the color and texture analysis procedure are also described
