Abstract :
A synchronous code division multiaccess (CDMA) system with a cross correlation canceler for mobile communications is proposed, and its performance under multipath fading is investigated by theoretical analysis and computer simulations. Performance with implicit diversity is also evaluated. In the system proposed, cross-correlation components caused by the delayed multipaths are removed algebraically by matrix operations, and thereby a high capacity within a cell can be achieved. For example, considering 10-2 as an acceptable value of bit error rate (BER), capacity within a cell of higher than 60% can be easily attained for an Eb/N0 of 20 dB. These theoretical and simulation results indicate that the system can provide high capacity over multipath fading channels
