Abstract
A hierarchical SC (switched-capacitor) filter design methodology that obtains minimal spread in combination with either minimal sensitivity or minimal noise is discussed. The noise measure and the sensitivity measure are defined by an analytic formula that uses only capacitors, ideal switches, and ideal amplifiers. An efficient capacitor assignment optimization is applied on this high level of abstraction. The noise measure is interpreted as a characteristic point on a lower abstraction level that also takes into account the technological parameters of amplifier noise, amplifier transconductances, switch noise, and switch conductances. The given interpretation allows a further refinement of a design by choosing optimally adapted amplifier transconductances and switch conductances
