Abstract
This paper provides an overview of the process of obtaining accreditation for a new Bachelor degree engineering program. One of the major requirements of the accreditation process in Malaysia is the Self Assessment Report (SAR). The aim of this paper is to provide an insight into the development of SAR. The observation presented herewith is based on a case-study of an actual process of SAR development in an Electrical Engineering Faculty of a Malaysian public university. The paper focused on the contents of SAR, method of development, and the barriers and problem faced during its creation. It is hoped that the insight provided by this paper will be useful to those undertaking a process to obtain accreditation of new engineering programs in Malaysia.
