Abstract :
A synchronous groupware system, PMTC (personal multimedia-multipoint teleconference system), that creates sophisticated communication environments over an ATM-based broadband ISDN (B-ISDN) system is described. It realizes higher communication capabilities as well as groupware facilities. PMTC supports desktop multimedia teleconferences with full-motion video, high-quality voice, and graphics such as character code documents, bit map images, handwritten images, and pointers. Multimedia handling mechanisms for video/audio information and graphics, multimedia multiplexing and transmission techniques, and multimedia user interfaces such as the multimedia windowing technique used by PMTC are discussed
