Abstract :
The authors present the analysis, design, and realization of a medium-frequency self-triggered series converter for induction heating applications. The system work-coil/work-piece is modeled by an equivalent R, L dipole. The model is based on the solution of Maxwell´s equations. An adequate drive circuit, based on the auto-triggering feature, is designed for the proposed series converter. Even though some modeling simplifications are assumed, experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions. The main features of the designed converter are low cost, simplicity, and ruggedness
