Abstract :
A new method to reduce the harmonic currents drawn by diode rectifier-fed drives is presented. The method involves coupling the machine neutral to the grid side and injecting a zero sequence current through controlled use of the ´zero-vector´ state in the machine side inverter PWM. Simulation results are presented to show that harmonic levels within IEEE 519 limits can be achieved through this method. The main advantage of the proposed scheme is that no additional hardware components are needed and the current spectrum improvement is achieved through control modifications.
