Abstract :
We show numerically that optical wave breaking effect occurring in nonlinear optical fibers during ultrashort pulse propagation is cancelled in the far field of dispersion. This is accompanied by nonlinear pulse reshaping from initial Gaussian shape towards nearly parabolic pulse with almost linear chirp. We point out that optical wave breaking fades away gradually over the propagation distance. We suppose that this process can be associated with relaxing of conditions required for optical shock formation.
