Abstract :
The EU FP7 co-funded project TIPSS (Tools for Innovative Product-Service-Systems for Global Tool and Die Networks) aims at developing Industrial Product-Service-Systems (IPS2) that enable toolmakers to integrate themselves into the value adding chain of their customers by offering tool-related services. This allows for additional income for the toolmaker along the tools life cycle while making him less replaceable for his customer. Smart tools that enable real time tool condition monitoring are the basis for improved tool related services that enhance the productive availability of the tool.
