Abstract
Today using computers it is possible to solve the original equations (including the case where the field is large enough to bring the potential barrier below the Fermi level), to any desired precision over the entire range of electric fields without resort to any approximations. For this work by referring the zero of energy to the bottom of the conduction band, the basic equations have been rewritten in a less confusing form more suitable for computation.
