Title :
Is there still a role for propagation predictions for frequency management of ionospheric HF communications links?

Abstract :
The merits of propagation predictions in support of the HF sky-wave circuit and service planning are well recognised but their advantages as an aid to frequency management are less evident. The paper summarises briefly their historical use in real-time operations and looks forward to their likely value to future high-performance circuits, including those embodying automatic link-establishment techniques
