Abstract
Systematic measurements of occupancy across the entire HF spectrum (1.6-30 MHz) have been made by UMIST since January 1982. The experiment has developed from a single measurement site in central England, to the present international system, which includes measurement sites in England, Sweden and Germany. The paper reviews the experiment, and gives an example of the mathematical models currently being developed
