Abstract :
An ultrasonic echo tomography method has been developed for in vivo imaging of human head. The method involves only a single transducer and a single scan around a target, which makes a simple configuration possible. A fan-beam approach is adopted to data acquisition resulting in a larger image area of the target. In addition, only echoes coming from between the transducer and the center of revolution are recorded. The advantage is that only 128 samples of each echo provided are needed to produce an image with a diameter of 2 cm (assuming 1 MHz signal frequency)
