Abstract :
Since the beginning of enterprise information technology, data management has been a highly relevant topic. It is well known that shortcomings in the data-foundation lead to loss in IT- and process-performance. However, determining the exact impact of data management initiatives is still not possible. One reason for this circumstance is the lack of integrated models describing the whole chain, from data management activities over data quality dimensions and enterprise processes towards business performance. This paper introduces a research approach to close this gap by addressing the relevant interrelations between these different elements. The foundation for the approach is a framework for future research on the impact of data quality and data management of the business performance.
