Abstract :
In order to reduce the negative impacts on the natural environment and the society, the sustainable development strategy is adopted by freight villages (FVs) to enhance the logistics industry´s sustainability. Currently, multi-stakeholder collaboration is the key for the future success of sustainable development. Therefore, FVs can approach sustainable development with collaborations amongst their stakeholders. Additionally, the knowledge-based view regards knowledge as a central asset as well as a strategic resource for competitive advantage, and which becomes the basis for stakeholder collaboration. Knowledge-based view is applied in this paper to lead stakeholder collaboration into FVs striving for sustainable development. First, this paper identifies relevant stakeholders to the context of sustainability-oriented FVs. Second, it describes a knowledge classification of FVs activities for sustainable development. Finally, the knowledge-based stakeholder collaboration process is proposed as a guideline for FVs to achieve their sustainable development mission.
