  • Abstract
Like any topic, DSP can be learned completely on your own, and the resulting depth of proficiency need have no limits just because no formalized study programme has been followed. The advantage of experiencing a rigorous learning programme comes primarily in the acceleration that a good guide can elicit and in the level of confidence gained as it is realized that one is picking up mainstream terminology and concepts. The author examines the organisation of DSP courses with reference to his experience in undergraduate instruction (BEng level), dedicated MSc study of DSP and short courses for engineers/scientists/mathematicians based in industry
