Abstract :
This paper addresses a problem of reactive power planning on the distribution level. A novel analytical method to determine total amount of reactive power to be installed on the distribution level is proposed. A special algorithm to calculate optimal capacitor bank switching to minimize annual energy losses is derived. Main parameters of metal-enclosed modular design capacitor banks such as module rating and number of the modules are selected
