Abstract
In order to achieve an effective standard for the testing of composite insulators such as those currently available for porcelain and glass materials, it is proposed that the performance of the composite insulator under a variety of natural conditions should be studied with equal emphasis alongside some existing standards. In this way it should be possible to confidently link insulator design, material property and intended application in such a way as to be able to determine effectively how well the insulator may perform
