Abstract :
In the absence of an overhead line in maintenance workshops, there is a requirement to power the train from a shore supply in order to provide a DC Bus for the train inverters and battery chargers during maintenance activities. In this paper we describe a new way to supply the DC Bus, using the industrial 3 phase voltage supply, without any extra active components. With this method we respect all of the harmonic rejection criteria to the grid, while maintaining a very high power factor.
